Each drying device has its specific scope of application, and each material can find several drying devices that can meet the basic requirements, but there is only one that is most suitable. If the selection is inappropriate, the user will not only have to bear unnecessary one-time high purchase costs, but also pay a heavy price during the entire use period, such as low efficiency, high energy consumption, high operating costs, poor product quality, and even the device cannot operate normally.

The following are the general principles for selecting drying devices. It is difficult to say which one or which items are the most important. The ideal selection must be based on one's own conditions. Sometimes compromise is necessary.

Applicability - The drying device must first be applicable to specific materials and meet the basic requirements for material drying, including being able to handle materials well (feeding, conveying, fluidization, dispersion, heat transfer, discharge, etc.), and meeting the basic requirements of processing capacity, dehydration capacity, product quality, etc.

High drying rate - In terms of drying rate, the material is highly dispersed in the hot air during convection drying, the critical moisture content is low, and the drying speed is fast. Moreover, for the same convection drying, the critical moisture content is different for different drying methods, so the drying rate is also different.

Low energy consumption - Different drying methods have different energy consumption indicators. Generally, the thermal efficiency of conduction drying can reach 100% in theory, while that of convection drying can only be about 70%.

Save investment - The cost of drying devices that perform the same function sometimes varies greatly, so the lower one should be selected.

Low operating cost - Equipment depreciation, energy consumption, labor costs, maintenance costs, spare parts costs, etc. should be as low as possible.

Prioritize drying devices with simple structure, sufficient supply of spare parts, high reliability and long service life.

Meet environmental protection requirements, good working conditions and high safety.

Before selecting, it is best to conduct material drying experiments and have a deep understanding of the drying devices (advantages and disadvantages) that have been used for similar materials, which is often helpful for appropriate selection.

Do not rely entirely on past experience, focus on absorbing new technologies, and listen more to the opinions of experts.
